camera shots are used to demonstrate different parts of the films setting, characters and themes. as a result.

extreme close up

focuses on one thing in great detail

close up

contains no background focuses on the entire object or a persons head or a persons sholders.

it may revealhuman emotions or private information.

mid shot

person is seen from the waist up.

if there are two people in a shot it is called a two shot

long shot

contains a lot of landscape or background. it is used to show action.

extreme long shot

contains a lot of landscape and gives important information about the setting and atmosphere at the beginning of a scene

over the sholder shot

the camera shoots from behind a characters sholder and is used mostly during conversations.

allows the audience to feel more involved.

camera angels

camera angels are used to position the veiwer so thta they can understand the relationship between the characters

low angel

the camera looks up at the subject

this makes the subject seem important , powerfull.

high angel

the cahracter looks down on the subject

this makes itlook smaller gives theaudience a sense of power or

eye level angel

the audience sees things from the characters eye level

it makes them feel more comfurtable.

dutch angel

this is wheen the camerais tillted along the x axis

this creats a feeling of unease in the shot that somthing isnt quite right.

birds eye veiw

a birds eye veiw is a elevated veiw of an object from above with a prespective as though the observer were a bird looking down on the scene.

camera movements

the camera can be moved in different ways to create diffrent effects

pan- camera is fixed but moves side to side

tilt- camera is fixed but moves up and down

zoom- camera moves in and out of the same shot

dolly- camera is mounted on a railway track and moves along with what it is filming.

sound

the sound track is a vital part of any film and helps it tell its story. it can be broken down into diffrent areas.

dialogue

dialogue is the words of actors. it is important as it helps us understand the story and characters.

voice over

this is another way words are used to tell the story but narrators is not seen. thier voice is over the immage.

music

music is a powerfull techqnique to elicit emotions. music should compatent the story and help create atmosphere.

natural sound (digetic)

any natural sound were actully there while they bwere filming eg the sound of the surf, the actors voice the trees rustling cars passing.
